Pakistan Naval Chief Awarded Turkiye’s Legion of Merit During Official Visit









Ankara, Turkiye – August 5, 2025 – In a ceremony acknowledging his significant contributions to strengthening defense and maritime cooperation, Pakistan’s Naval Chief, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, was awarded Turkiye’s prestigious Legion of Merit. The award was presented by Admiral Ercument Tatlioglu, Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces.

During his official visit, Admiral Ashraf was honored with a guard of honor and engaged in high-level discussions with Turkiye’s Minister of National Defence, Yasar Guler, and Chief of the General Staff, General Metin Gurak. The meetings centered on professional naval interests, regional maritime security, and initiatives to enhance collaboration through joint exercises, mutual visits, and training programs.

The Naval Chief’s itinerary also included visits to key naval facilities, such as the Istanbul Naval Shipyard and the Golcuk Naval Base, where he was briefed on the Pakistan Navy’s MILGEM project and inspected submarine construction facilities. He also paid his respects at the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

This visit is expected to further solidify the strong historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two nations’ navies.
