Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, today attended the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine, co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France at the UN. His presence reaffirmed Pakistan’s historic and unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and its steadfast commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
At the conference, Mr. Dar welcomed the recent announcements by countries including France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Portugal to officially recognize the State of Palestine. He emphasized that these decisions reinforce the international consensus on the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and statehood. He further urged all nations that have not yet recognized Palestine to take similar steps, in line with their commitments to international law.
Pakistan actively participated in the conference and endorsed the Outcome Document—the New York Declaration—without prejudice to its long-standing principled position on the Question of Palestine. This endorsement highlights Pakistan’s consistent efforts toward the realization of peace and stability in the region. Pakistan was among the first countries to recognize the State of Palestine in 1988 and has consistently advocated for its admission as a full member of the United Nations.

The Foreign Office of Pakistan described the conference as a “timely and necessary initiative” to generate renewed momentum and translate international commitments into concrete actions. It called for a full and unimpeded humanitarian access to the besieged Palestinian population and a immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire across Gaza and all occupied Palestinian Territories.
Pakistan has consistently supported the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, in line with relevant UN and OIC resolutions and international legitimacy.
