According to the PDMA’s latest situation report, the hardest-hit areas include Swat, Chitral, Shangla, and Upper Dir, where swollen rivers have inundated villages and washed away key road links. Rescue teams, supported by the Pakistan Army and local authorities, are working round the clock to evacuate stranded residents and provide emergency relief.
The floods have also caused extensive damage to crops and livestock, further aggravating the humanitarian crisis. Relief camps have been established in the affected districts, while medical teams have been dispatched to prevent disease outbreaks in the wake of contaminated water supplies.
Provincial authorities have urged citizens living in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to relocate to safer zones. The PDMA has also requested urgent assistance from the federal government and humanitarian organizations to support ongoing rescue and rehabilitation operations.
The disaster highlights the growing challenges posed by extreme weather patterns, with officials warning that climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of such calamities across Pakistan.
