The ceremony was attended by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Munir Akram, and Micronesia’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Jeem Lippwe. Both envoys expressed optimism about fostering mutual understanding, economic cooperation, and collaboration in multilateral forums, particularly within the UN framework.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated that the establishment of ties reflects Islamabad’s commitment to engaging with diverse regions across the globe. It is also expected to open avenues for cooperation in areas such as climate change adaptation, sustainable development, and maritime affairs—issues of critical importance to both countries.
Micronesia, a Pacific island nation known for its strategic location and environmental vulnerabilities, shares Pakistan’s interest in global peace, stability, and environmental sustainability. The new diplomatic channel is anticipated to strengthen bilateral engagement and bolster Pakistan’s visibility in the Pacific region.
This latest move is part of Pakistan’s broader foreign policy strategy to diversify its international partnerships and enhance its role in global diplomacy.
