Gaza City — In one of the most devastating escalations since October 2023, Israeli forces have destroyed more than 1,000 buildings in the Zeitoun and Sabra neighborhoods of Gaza City, trapping hundreds of civilians under the rubble and intensifying what rights groups are calling a campaign of mass displacement.
Continuous shelling, blocked access routes, and advancing Israeli tanks have severely hampered rescue operations, leaving emergency crews unable to reach large sections of Gaza City. Hospitals, already overwhelmed, report they are operating beyond capacity as casualties mount.
Local health officials confirmed that 51 Palestinians were martyred in the past 24 hours, including nine aid-seekers. Among the victims were three Palestinians killed in Deir el-Balah while assisting with humanitarian relief, and two others in the al-Karameh area northwest of Gaza City. In Khan Younis, one displaced person was killed and two were injured when Israeli fire hit a tent shelter in al-Mawasi.
The overall death toll from Israel’s ongoing aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has now surpassed 62,600, with tens of thousands more injured and millions displaced.
Rights organizations warn that the large-scale destruction of urban areas—including Gaza City, Rafah, and Khan Younis—points to a systematic campaign of forced displacement, raising alarms of ethnic cleansing.
Meanwhile, global outrage continues to mount. Mass demonstrations have erupted across major cities worldwide after a United Nations panel officially declared famine in northern Gaza, a direct consequence of Israel’s blockade on humanitarian supplies, including food, water, and medicine.
Humanitarian agencies are urgently appealing for immediate international intervention to halt the assault, ensure unfettered aid access, and protect civilians trapped under bombardment.
