Islamabad, Pakistan – August 1, 2025 – Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their deep-rooted and enduring military partnership during celebrations marking the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). A ceremony was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, welcomed Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong as the chief guest.
In his remarks, Field Marshal Munir extended his heartfelt congratulations to the PLA and underscored the strength of the bilateral relationship, describing it as “time-tested and unshakable.” He emphasized that despite evolving regional and global challenges, the bond between the two nations remains exceptionally resilient. “The Pakistan Army and the PLA are true brothers-in-arms,” he stated, highlighting their vital role in promoting regional stability and safeguarding shared strategic interests.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong reciprocated the sentiments, expressing gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledging the Pakistan Armed Forces’ unwavering support in the fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed China’s firm commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Pakistan.
This commemorative event follows a recent high-level visit by Field Marshal Munir to Beijing, where he held a series of meetings with top Chinese political and military leadership. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), these discussions focused on comprehensive defense and security cooperation, counterterrorism collaboration, joint training programs, and the security of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Both sides reiterated their commitment to their “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership,” solidifying their shared resolve to advance regional peace and stability through sustained dialogue and engagement.
