Islamabad, August 24, 2025 – The Pakistan Army, in close coordination with the civil administration and humanitarian agencies, has intensified its relief and rescue operations across flood-hit regions of the country, bringing critical aid and support to affected communities.
Lives Saved, and Medical Support
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) alone, floods claimed the lives of 427 people, while 164 deaths were reported in Punjab, 29 in Sindh, 22 in Balochistan, 56 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and 8 in Islamabad. Despite the scale of the disaster, the military has played a pivotal role in minimizing losses by rescuing 6,903 people in KP and operating nine medical camps to provide urgent healthcare services. Nationwide, over 25,000 individuals have been safely evacuated or relocated to secure shelters.
Deployment of Forces
To respond swiftly to the crisis, the Army deployed:
- Two battalions each in Buner and Shangla,
- One battalion in Swat,
- One FC wing in Bajaur and Dir each, and
- One company in Swabi.
In total, eight army units remain engaged in relief and rehabilitation tasks in KP alone, demonstrating the scale of commitment to flood-affected areas.
Food and Relief Supplies
Relief supplies were staged in critical areas:
- In Peshawar, 2,500 ready-to-eat meals and 20 tons of rations were distributed.
- In Nowshera, 5,000 meals and 505 tons of rations were delivered, transported via both road convoys and helicopters.
The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has been instrumental in logistics, airlifting 48 tons of NGO-donated relief goods from Karachi to Peshawar. In Gilgit-Baltistan, the PAF further airlifted 7 tons of dry rations, daily essentials, and medicines, while evacuating 75 stranded individuals from remote valleys cut off due to floods.
Restoring Connectivity and Infrastructure
Army engineers, working round the clock, have restored most damaged roads, reopened bridges, and repaired critical telecom networks in affected districts such as Buner and Shangla. Electricity services have also been largely restored, with 70% of power supply reinstated in flood-hit regions.
Commitment to the Nation
The Pakistan Army reaffirmed its resolve to continue relief operations until all affected communities receive full assistance and essential services are restored. These operations underline the military’s unwavering dedication to standing alongside the people in times of national calamity.
