Bajaur, Pakistan | July 30, 2025 — Security forces in Pakistan have launched “Operation Sarbakaf” in Lowi Mamund tehsil, Bajaur district, targeting terrorist elements active in the region. The operation, which commenced on Tuesday morning, is backed by gunship helicopters and artillery. A three-day curfew has been imposed in 16 areas of Lowi Mamund to ensure the safety of residents during the offensive.
The curfew, effective from July 29 to July 31, 2025, from 5 AM to 5 PM daily, restricts all movement of individuals and vehicles in areas including Bad-i-Siah Tharkho, Irab, Gat, Agra, Khurchai, Dawagai, Kalan, Legharai, Kitkot, Gillai, Nakhtar, Zarai, Dambarai, Amanato, and Zagai. The Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur, exercising powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, issued the notification, emphasizing the necessity of these restrictions to maintain peace and security.
Sources indicate that Operation Sarbakaf aims to eliminate terrorists who have posed a significant threat to peace in the district for several weeks. While official confirmation is awaited, reports suggest that at least four terrorists have been killed, approximately 12 wounded, and around 10 captured alive by security forces during the initial phases of the operation.
Security forces continue to conduct targeted actions to dismantle hideouts and restore peace in the region.
