ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – August 7, 2025 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today chaired a pivotal meeting to address Pakistan’s rapidly growing population, which currently has an annual growth rate of 2.55%. The Prime Minister underscored the urgency of developing a comprehensive strategy to transform the expanding population into a developmental asset for the nation.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the critical need to create new opportunities for the country’s youth and enhance employment for women. He directed all provinces to collaborate on a comprehensive plan to tackle these challenges effectively.
To ensure long-term, effective policy-making, the Prime Minister ordered the formation of a high-powered national committee dedicated to handling population-related issues. Additionally, a proposal for a national public awareness campaign was presented to educate citizens about the economic implications of population growth.
The Prime Minister’s directives highlight the government’s commitment to implementing proactive measures to manage population dynamics and harness the potential of the country’s demographic dividend for sustainable national development.
