Operation Shaaban: 75 Insurgents Neutralized in Balochistan

Jul 10, 2026 | Latest News, Terrorism

A massive, multi-agency counter-insurgency offensive in southwestern Pakistan has eliminated 75 armed insurgents since July 5, as elite military and paramilitary units systematically dismantle active rebel strongholds across the Balochistan province.

According to high-level security sources, the ongoing campaign—officially code-named Operation Shaaban—was launched as a direct, kinetic response to the devastating rebel assault on the Mangi Dam infrastructure post earlier this week. The high-tempo theater command is being executed via a unified operations framework combining the specialized combat assets of the Pakistan Army, the Frontier Corps (FC), and the Balochistan Police.

Tactical Breakdown: Precision Raids and Ground Cordons

Military planners have rapidly scaled up operations over the last 96 hours, focusing heavily on the province’s rugged, near-impassable mountain ranges where rebel groups maintain hidden logistical bases.

  • The Initial Waves: Early phases of Operation Shaaban on Monday and Tuesday resulted in the neutralization of 26 heavily armed insurgents during intense, close-quarters firefights.

  • The Past 24 Hours: Joint security forces successfully eliminated another 13 fighters during targeted sweeps, bringing the specific death toll within the boundaries of Operation Shaaban to 39 militants.

  • Tightening the Cordon: Regular infantry units and anti-terrorist squads have further compressed their operational perimeter in the northern and central mountain sectors, systematically choking off supply lines and escape routes utilized by the remaining rebel cells.

Combined Arms: Air Support Repels Khuzdar Assault

The conflict expanded significantly early Friday morning when a large contingent of insurgents launched a coordinated dawn raid on a localized police installation in the Khuzdar district.

The assault was successfully repulsed due to a rapid-deployment intervention by nearby Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps quick-reaction teams. Utilizing heavy defensive positions, the responding troops eliminated eight insurgents on the perimeter, forcing the remaining attackers into a chaotic retreat.

To prevent the escaping hostile cells from melting back into the local terrain, the military command immediately deployed armed attack helicopters to support ground tracking units. Initial aerial reconnaissance and combat strike reports indicate that an additional five to six insurgents were confirmed killed during the subsequent helicopter operations in the rugged ridges surrounding Khuzdar.

With the total cross-provincial insurgent body count hitting 75 across all simultaneous intelligence-based operations (IBOs), defense officials in Islamabad maintain that both ground sweeps and close-air support sorties will continue unabated until all active insurgent sanctuaries and their cross-border facilitators are entirely neutralized.
