Pakistan CTD Arrests 12 Suspected RAW-Linked Terrorists in Punjab, Foiling Major Attack Plans

The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), operating in close coordination with sensitive agencies, successfully concluded intelligence-based operations (IBOs) that resulted in the arrest of 12 suspected terrorists across the province. These individuals are allegedly linked to the Indian intelligence agency Research Analysis Wing (RAW). The operations were conducted in the major cities of Lahore, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur, and the CTD spokesperson confirmed that these arrests prevented large-scale terrorism activities aimed at destabilizing the region.

The suspects were reportedly being funded by RAW and their activities were coordinated via a dedicated Facebook account allegedly operated from India. Security personnel recovered a significant cache of material from their possession, including seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two detonators, 102 feet of safety fuse wire, explosives, weapons, mobile phones, and cash. Crucially, the recovered evidence also included images and video recordings of sensitive locations, specifically a religious seminary, confirming the suspects’ intentions to incite fear and religious hatred. The arrested individuals were reportedly planning to target “places of worship and other important sites” to achieve their goals of promoting communal discord.

The 12 arrests were broken down across the three cities: seven suspects—Sukhdeep Singh, Azmat, Faizan, Nabil, Abrar, Usman, and Sarfaraz—were apprehended in Lahore. One suspect, Danish, was arrested in Faisalabad, while the remaining four—Rajab, Hashim, Saqib, and Arif—were taken into custody in Bahawalpur. Cases have been registered against all individuals, and further investigation is currently underway. This successful operation reinforces the CTD’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign to combat foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism in Pakistan, following similar RAW-linked arrests reported in Sindh in August and June.
