Pakistan Rejects Indian Claims, Reaffirms Kashmir’s Disputed Status

Foreign Office of Pakistan categorically rejected the claims made by Indian Ministry of External Affairs pertaining to the status and depiction of Jammu Kashmir. Sajjad Haider, Spokesperson for the Foreign Office, noted the assertions by New Delhi are baseless and contrary to the internationally recognized facts.

Furthermore, the FO Spokesperson stated that India’s unilateral actions and so-called official maps have no legal value the status of disputed territories cannot be altered through a unilaterally issued map by an aggressor. The Kashmir issue remains a disputed territory and one of the oldest unresolved items on the UN Security Council agenda. The official map by United Nations wherein Jammu and Kashmir are depicted as disputed is the only legitimate cartographic representation.

The statement by FO was gives after India’s reaction to the resolution of adopting Equal Earth projection map. New Delhi insisted its version of the official map be used, to misguide the international community, however, FO Spokesperson urged India to be held accountable for its human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, ensure a free impartial plebiscite as per UN auspices.
