Nationwide Defence Day Ceremonies to Honor Armed Forces Martyrs and Veterans









Defence Day Ceremonies across Pakistan were held to celebrated the valor and courage demonstrated by our Armed Forces martyrs and veterans in the 17-day long war against India in 1965. The nationwide ceremonies were held to pay a tribute to the armed forces for their sacrifices in defending national sovereignty.

Guard of Honor Ceremonies were conducted at mausoleums of Nishan-i-Haider recipients i.e., Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, Captain Sarwar Shaheed, and Major Mohammad Akram Shaheed. Major General Ummar Maqbool laid a floral wreath on behalf of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir at Dhoke Shah Sawar.

To commemorate the Air Force Day, Speaker of National Assembly, praised the performance of Pakistan Air Forces during the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War. He highlighted the operational preparedness demonstrated by PAF, an integral part of PAF’s legacy, which became an important lesson on aerial battles for the history books. The Speaker related PAF’s legacy from 1965 with Marka-i-Haq wherein, similar professional expertise was demonstrated by the pilots that humbled sinister Indian designs.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, acting President Chaudhry Tariq Farooq and Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani inaugurated a defense exhibition featuring military and cultural displays at Muzaffarabad’s Narul Stadium.
