Pakistan’s Security Forces Neutralize 34 Militants in Counter-Terror Operations Across Balochistan, and KP

Feb 26, 2026 | Latest News, Terrorism

In a major week-long offensive against foreign-sponsored terrorism, Pakistan’s security forces have eliminated 34 militants during a series of “high-tempo intelligence-driven operations” in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Wednesday that the crackdown successfully dismantled several high-threat cells involved in cross-border incursions and local destabilization.

Operational Breakdown: Targeting the “Fitna” Networks

The military’s media wing detailed five major engagements that took place this week, targeting both the Fitna Al-Khwarij (TTP) and Fitna Al Hindustan (separatist proxies):

  • The Northern Frontier (KP): A total of 26 TTP militants were killed across four precision strikes.

    • North Waziristan: Security forces intercepted a militant attempting to breach the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on Tuesday. A separate operation in the same district resulted in 12 additional militants gunned down.

    • Bannu District: 10 TTP militants were neutralized in a high-intensity engagement.

    • Lakki Marwat: 3 militants were eliminated during a targeted raid.

  • The Southwestern Front (Balochistan):

    • Zhob District: In the “general area of Sambaza,” troops engaged a cell of Fitna Al Hindustan. Following an intense fire exchange, 8 terrorists were neutralized. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site, which the ISPR noted were intended for large-scale “terrorist activities” in the province.

Strategic Context: Retribution and Resolve

These operations come in the wake of escalating regional tensions and a decisive shift in Pakistan’s counter-terrorism posture:

  • Retaliatory Momentum: The surge in local IBOs follows Saturday’s extensive airstrikes on militant camps inside Afghanistan, which reportedly killed over 100 militants.

  • The Bajaur Ambush: Highlighting the ongoing threat, four police personnel were martyred in Bajaur on Wednesday after their patrol was ambushed by unidentified gunmen. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi condemned the act, vowing that such “cowardly attacks” would not shake the morale of law enforcement.

  • External Links: Islamabad maintains that these groups operate with the support of external handlers and benefit from sanctuaries on Afghan soil—claims that Kabul continues to deny despite “conclusive evidence” presented by Pakistani investigators.

Vision “Azm-e-Istehkam”

The military reiterated that these “intelligence-based operations” (IBOs) are part of a relentless campaign to defend the nation’s frontiers. The ISPR stated that the security forces remain “resolute and unwavering” in their commitment to wipe out the menace of foreign-supported terrorism from Pakistani soil.
