In a message shared on social media, the Indian Embassy in Tehran advised Indian nationals to depart Iran using any available means of transport. The guidance applies to a wide range of people, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists. Officials emphasized the importance of acting promptly and not waiting for the situation to stabilize.
India’s foreign ministry estimates that around 10,000 Indian citizens are usually present in Iran. Many are there for long-term studies or religious travel, while others are involved in trade and small businesses. For these individuals, the call to leave brings uncertainty and disruption, forcing families to make difficult decisions about safety, finances, and plans.
