Iranian Missiles Target Jerusalem as Middle East War Enters 11th Day

Air raid sirens blared across Jerusalem and central Israel as the Israeli military warned of incoming missile barrages from Iran. This latest escalation occurred as the joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign against the Islamic Republic, dubbed Operation Roaring Lion, entered its 11th day. Shortly after the warnings, witnesses and journalists in Jerusalem reported hearing at least one massive explosion, which the military confirmed was the result of active defense systems intercepting aerial threats over the city.

While Israel’s emergency services, Magen David Adom (MDA), reported no direct fatalities from this specific afternoon barrage, they treated several individuals who were injured while rushing to bomb shelters and others suffering from severe anxiety. However, the overall human cost within Israel has risen; first responders confirmed that 11 people have been killed and dozens injured since Iran began its retaliatory strikes. This follows a particularly deadly incident on Monday where shrapnel from an interception killed a 62-year-old man in central Israel and seriously wounded another.

The conflict’s intensity shows no signs of waning despite conflicting rhetoric from global leaders. While U.S. President Donald Trump has recently insisted that the war—which he described as a “short-term excursion” could be over “very soon,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a defiant statement on Tuesday asserting that the military offensive is “not done yet.” Speaking at the National Health Command Centre, Netanyahu stated that the operations are “breaking the bones” of the Iranian regime and reiterated his call for the Iranian people to “cast off the yoke of tyranny.”

Meanwhile, Tehran has signaled a prepared stance for a prolonged engagement. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Tuesday that diplomatic talks with the U.S. are no longer on the agenda and that Iran is prepared to continue its missile operations “as long as necessary.” As both sides dig in, the regional security environment remains extremely volatile, with Iran also targeting U.S. bases and energy infrastructure across the Gulf.
