President Ahmed al-Sharaa has announced a comprehensive ceasefire and integration agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), marking a definitive “inflection point” in the unification of the Syrian state following the 2024 transition.
The accord, finalized late Sunday, establishes a framework for the immediate restoration of state authority across the northeastern governorates and the systematic integration of Kurdish administrative and military structures into the central government.

Terms of the Integration
Under the transition plan, the de facto autonomous administration has agreed to:
- Territorial Handover: Immediate transfer of administrative control for predominantly Arab provinces to the central government.
- Civil Integration: The merger of Hasakeh’s civil institutions into the national state framework.
- Military Unification: The incorporation of SDF personnel into the Syrian national army, upholding the principle of “one state, one army.”

Regional and International Support
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hailed the Syrian army’s operations as a “successful test” of national sovereignty, commending the disciplined approach taken to secure the border regions. President Erdogan emphasized that the era of regional fragmentation has concluded and urged the swift implementation of the deal to ensure lasting stability along the 900-kilometer border.
U.S. Envoy Tom Barrack also welcomed the agreement, describing it as a vital step toward a unified partnership between former adversaries. While some local groups expressed concerns over the shift toward a centralized system, the Damascus administration maintains that a unified constitution is indispensable for post-Assad stability.
