An Israeli airstrike on an apartment in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza on Sunday resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a six-month-old infant. Health officials identified the deceased as Mohammad Abu Mallouh, his wife Alaa Zaqlan, and their infant son, Osama.

Family members expressed profound grief and shock at the incident. Umm Hamza Abu Mallouh, the infant’s grandmother, tearfully recounted, “A man sleeping along with his wife and their 6-month infant son in their bed. The rocket fell on his bed, and it took him, with his wife and son, leaving behind six young girls.”
Later on Sunday, a Palestinian man was killed by Israeli gunfire near a UN-run medical clinic in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.
Yehia Abu Mallouh, whose brother was killed in the Nuseirat strike, stated that the family received no prior warning before the explosion. “We discovered that my brother’s house has been targeted while he was sleeping safely in his home. We found them (the family) cut into pieces without prior warning,” he said.
The recent incidents occur amidst renewed Israeli evacuation orders to residents of the enclave, a practice that had largely subsided following an October ceasefire. However, the ceasefire, brokered by US President Donald Trump, has reportedly failed to entirely halt Israeli attacks in Gaza, with Israel and Hamas currently in indirect talks regarding the militant group’s disarmament.
The October ceasefire left Israel in control of over half of Gaza, with Hamas controlling a smaller coastal territory. According to Gaza health officials, approximately 880 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the truce took effect. These figures do not differentiate between combatants and civilians.
