US President Donald Trump is set to host Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) for a significant visit, marking the prince’s first trip since the 2018 murder of critic Jamal Khashoggi. Despite US intelligence linking MBS to the killing, the warm welcome signals a recovery in bilateral relations.
The high-stakes day of diplomacy at the White House is expected to advance several major deals, including the potential sale of 48 F-35 fighter jets. A policy shift that could impact Israel’s military edge. Trump also hopes to secure a portion of Saudi Arabia’s pledged $600 billion investment into the US, with deals anticipated in technology, manufacturing, and defense.
No surprise Trump rolled out the red carpet for MBS.
The Saudis invested billions in Trump family businesses, so giving Saudi Arabia our most advanced fighter aircraft and maybe a NATO-esque security guarantee is the least he could to pay them back.
The corruption is endless. https://t.co/4RdX7s2Mzw

A key objective for Trump is to deepen ties with the Kingdom to counteract China’s growing influence in the region. Furthermore, Trump intends to press MBS to join the Abraham Accords and normalize relations with Israel, a move seen by the President as vital for wider Middle East peace. However, the Saudis remain cautious despite the lack of progress on Palestinian statehood.
