VEON Ltd. announced today, on March 30, 2026, that its subsidiary JazzCash has successfully onboarded its 1 millionth merchant onto Pakistan’s national digital payments platform, Raast. This milestone was commemorated in Islamabad, where VEON CEO Kaan Terzioglu and JazzCash Chairman Aamir Ibrahim officially onboarded Behbud Crafts, a retail outlet dedicated to women’s vocational empowerment. The achievement marks a significant leap in Pakistan’s transition toward a cashless economy, utilizing the State Bank of Pakistan’s Raast infrastructure to enable instant, interoperable QR code payments for small businesses and micro-entrepreneurs.

JazzCash currently serves a massive base of 58 million registered customers and has demonstrated its economic scale by processing over PKR 15 trillion in 2025. This transaction value is equivalent to approximately 13% of Pakistan’s GDP, highlighting the platform’s role in formalizing the economy. By integrating millions of corner shops and retailers into the digital fold, the initiative supports the broader national agenda of financial inclusion and economic transparency. Executives noted that from neighborhood kiosks to mission-driven nonprofits, the expansion of the Raast QR network is essential for making financial services intuitive and accessible for every Pakistani citizen.
