OpenAI is reportedly venturing into AI-generated music, developing a tool that can create original compositions from text or audio prompts, according to The Information. As part of its research, OpenAI has collaborated with students from The Juilliard School, one of the world’s leading performing arts institutions, to gather and annotate high-quality music data for training.
The envisioned system could enable users to produce everything from guitar accompaniments and vocal backings to complete soundtracks with minimal input.

While the project’s current stage remains undisclosed, sources suggest that the model is being trained to understand musical structures, scores, and stylistic nuances.
This development positions OpenAI alongside competitors such as Suno and ElevenLabs, both advancing AI music generation. However, it also raises questions about originality, copyright, and content authenticity as AI increasingly blurs the boundaries between technology and art.
