Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued an unequivocal condemnation today, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, following Iranian missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Jubail petrochemical complex. Terming the strikes a “dangerous escalation” and a serious violation of Saudi sovereignty, Islamabad reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Kingdom’s territorial integrity. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an emergency call with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to convey Pakistan’s solidarity, particularly under the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement which treats an attack on either nation as aggression against both. The Prime Minister praised the Saudi leadership for exercising “maximum restraint” despite the hundreds of projectiles launched toward its Eastern Region since the conflict began in late February.

The Prime Minister’s Office noted that during the call, Shehbaz Sharif apprised the Crown Prince of the latest developments regarding Pakistan’s mediation efforts, often referred to as the “Islamabad Channel.” While witnesses in Jubail reported loud explosions and fires at SABIC plants necessitating mass evacuations, Saudi air defenses successfully intercepted several ballistic missiles. These retaliatory strikes by Iran follow earlier hits on its own Asaluyeh plants, creating a volatile cycle of infrastructure destruction. As regional safety alerts remain active and the Saudi-Bahrain bridge faces temporary closures, Pakistan continues to work with international partners to prevent a total collapse of Middle Eastern stability.
