Pakistan Condemns Religious Vandalism and Attacks on Minorities in India

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially called upon the international community to address a rise in religious persecution and violence in India. Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi issued a statement on Monday expressing deep concern over recent reports of vandalism targeting Christian symbols and decorations during the Christmas period. The spokesperson emphasized that these incidents are part of a broader, more systemic pattern of harassment against religious minorities across the neighboring country.

Beyond the holiday vandalism, Pakistan highlighted ongoing violence directed at the Muslim community. The Foreign Office cited specific instances of state-sponsored actions, including the demolition of Muslim-owned homes and frequent reports of lynchings. The spokesperson explicitly referenced the historical case of Muhammad Akhlaq to illustrate long-standing concerns regarding the lack of legal accountability for those involved in communal violence. According to the ministry, these persistent campaigns have fostered an environment of fear and deep alienation among Indian Muslims.

Pakistan urged global human rights organizations and world bodies to move beyond observation and take appropriate measures to safeguard the fundamental rights of these vulnerable groups. While India has traditionally dismissed such criticisms as being politically motivated, Pakistan maintains that the protection of minority rights is a shared international responsibility. The Foreign Office concluded that it will continue to raise these issues at multilateral forums, arguing that discriminatory policies and communal divisions significantly undermine regional stability and social cohesion.
