The cross-border assault on November 26 in Tajikistan’s Khatlon province, near the Afghan frontier, claimed the lives of three Chinese employees of the Shohin SM gold-mining company and injured another, with Tajik authorities attributing it to armed groups operating from Afghanistan. The Chinese Embassy in Dushanbe condemned the “barbaric act” and urged immediate investigation and evacuation of citizens from the volatile area.
DPM Dar also expressed deep sympathies for the victims of the catastrophic November 26 fire at Wang Fuk Court in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district, which has killed at least 146 people—Hong Kong’s deadliest blaze in decades—and left hundreds injured or displaced. The inferno, fueled by flammable scaffolding materials during renovations, gutted multiple high-rises, prompting investigations into safety lapses and arrests for potential corruption. Hong Kong authorities established a HK$300 million support fund, with global condolences pouring in.
“Pakistan stands in full solidarity with China during these difficult times,” DPM Dar affirmed, reaffirming the “ironclad” all-weather strategic partnership. Ambassador Jiang conveyed appreciation for Pakistan’s unwavering support and briefed on ongoing relief efforts.
The meeting also covered bilateral cooperation across trade, investment, energy, and security, alongside regional and international developments, including counter-terrorism and Gaza. Both sides agreed to deepen exchanges and joint initiatives for mutual prosperity.
