A “Great Honor” and a Shift in Tone
Following a week of intense rhetoric, President Trump described the conversation with President Petro as a “Great Honor” on his Truth Social platform. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is currently coordinating with Colombian officials to finalize the logistics of the diplomatic visit.
The President noted that he appreciated the “tone” of the Colombian leader during their discussion regarding regional disagreements and the drug trade. This development marks a pivot from earlier in the week, following the successful U.S. operation in Venezuela.

The U.S. government also confirmed today that it will maintain indefinite control over Venezuelan oil sales as it prepares to reintroduce the country’s crude into global markets under the new interim administration.
