The international community has issued strong condemnations following a heinous drone attack on a United Nations base in the disputed Abyei region, which resulted in the tragic deaths of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) and injured several others.

He added: “Attacks as the one today in South Kordofan against peacekeepers are unjustifiable. There will need to be accountability.” The Secretary-General reiterated his urgent appeal to the warring parties to agree on an immediate cessation of hostilities and resume talks to reach a lasting ceasefire.
