An Iranian kamikaze drone struck a high-rise building in Manama, Bahrain, causing a massive explosion and fire. The strike is part of a wide-ranging retaliatory campaign launched by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) following the joint U.S.-Israeli air strikes on Tehran earlier today. Verified social media footage and reports show thick smoke billowing from a residential tower in the capital, where civil defense teams are currently conducting emergency firefighting and rescue operations.

The Bahraini Interior Ministry confirmed that several residential areas in Manama were targeted, prompting the evacuation of citizens in the Juffair district. This neighborhood is home to the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, which was also reportedly hit in a parallel missile attack. While the full extent of casualties in Bahrain remains unknown, the U.S. Embassy has ordered all personnel to shelter in place and announced its closure for Sunday, March 1. The Iranian government, via the Fars news agency, confirmed that it is targeting U.S. military assets across the Gulf, including sites in Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE.

This escalation has turned the Persian Gulf into an active war zone. In the UAE, at least one person was killed by falling shrapnel from intercepted missiles, and smoke was seen rising from Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah district. With regional airspaces closed and President Trump declaring “major combat operations” to achieve regime change in Iran, the strike on Bahrain’s skyline marks a terrifying shift from military-to-military engagement to attacks on urban civilian centers.
