A new era is dawning in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. In a statement released Thursday, Khamenei declared that the region is undergoing a transformation following what he described as the “disgraceful defeat of America” in its recent campaign against Iran.
👉 “Today, with two months having passed since the largest military campaign and aggression by the world’s tyrants in the region and the disgraceful defeat of America in its plan, a new chapter for the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is being written.”

Khamenei asserted that Iran is committed to securing the Gulf region and ending what he termed “the enemy’s abuses of the waterway.” He praised the resolve of Iran’s naval forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as well as the Iranian people’s resistance against foreign interference.
👉 “Persian Gulf nations, long accustomed to their rulers’ silence before aggressors, have witnessed in the past 60 days the resolve of Iran’s naval forces and the IRGC, alongside the zeal and bravery of southern Iran’s people and youth in rejecting foreign domination.”

He envisions a “bright future” for the Gulf without the presence of the United States, questioning the ability of U.S. bases to provide security in the region.
👉”America’s fake bases do not have the power and ability to provide even their own security, let alone giving hope for providing security for the dependents and America-lovers of the region.”

Khamenei further suggested that new management of the Strait of Hormuz would bring stability, progress, and economic prosperity to all Gulf nations.
👉 “The legal rules and the new management of the Strait of Hormuz will bring comfort and progress for the benefit of all the nations of the region, and its economic blessings will gladden the hearts of the people.”

Russia Expresses Concern Over US-Israeli Conflict
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov voiced concerns about the “negative impact” of the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran on the Caspian Sea region. Speaking in Astana, Kazakhstan, Lavrov emphasized the need for the Caspian Sea to remain a zone of peace and cooperation. He condemned the recent strike on Iran’s port city of Bandar Anzali, highlighting its importance to the trade and logistics interests of all Caspian states. Lavrov called for a swift resolution to the crisis in the Persian Gulf and the broader Middle East through political agreements between all parties.
Iran Blames US and Israel for Strait of Hormuz Blockade
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian placed responsibility for the ongoing blockade in the Strait of Hormuz on the United States and Israel, defending Iran’s decision to deny access to “hostile countries.” In a statement commemorating National Persian Gulf Day, Pezeshkian declared the waterway “a symbol of the great Iranian nation’s resistance.”
US Seeks International Coalition to Reopen Strait
Reports indicate that the Trump administration is actively seeking to build an international coalition to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The proposed “Maritime Freedom Construct” would coordinate information sharing, diplomatic efforts, and sanctions enforcement to reopen the vital waterway. This initiative follows President Trump’s declaration that the strait was “COMPLETELY OPEN AND READY FOR BUSINESS,” despite continued disruptions to ship traffic.
Tensions Rise Amidst Blockade
Meanwhile, a top military advisor to Iran’s supreme leader, Mohsen Rezaei, warned that the US blockade of Iranian ports “will fail.” Rezaei suggested that Iran has multiple options to bypass the blockade and could resort to confrontation if it persists. He also outlined potential scenarios for a future conflict, which he said could include bombings and assassinations in Tehran.
The US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on February 28, prompting retaliatory strikes by Iran. A ceasefire, initially mediated by Pakistan, has been extended indefinitely by President Trump. The situation in the region remains volatile, with significant implications for global trade and security.
