A coalition of 19 nations, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, France, Brazil, and Turkey, issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israel’s recent moves to expand control over the occupied West Bank. The ministers described the actions as a “flagrant violation of international law” and a deliberate step toward “unacceptable de facto annexation.” The statement follows a series of February cabinet decisions by the Israeli government that reclassified vast swaths of Palestinian territory as “Israeli state land” and removed long-standing barriers for settlers to purchase property directly.

The joint declaration, which also included the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), highlighted that these administrative changes effectively strip Palestinians of their ownership rights. By opening land registries and eliminating oversight permits, the Israeli cabinet has signaled its intent to further entrench Israeli administration across Area C, which makes up roughly 60 percent of the West Bank. Diplomats warned that such measures directly sabotage the viability of a two-state solution and threaten the broader “20-Point Plan for Gaza” aimed at regional stability.

International experts and UN officials have raised alarms that these moves constitute a “mega land grab.” Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich defended the measures as a way to “deepen our hold” on the land, while critics argue they create an apartheid-like system by imposing Israeli civil law on occupied territory. The signatory nations have called on Israel to reverse these decisions immediately, urging the international community to uphold its moral responsibility to protect the territorial integrity of a future Palestinian state.
