President Asif Ali Zardari received credentials from four newly designated ambassadors and high commissioners at a formal ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday, marking a renewed push to strengthen Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic partnerships.
The envoys who presented their letters of credence were:
- Tim Kane, High Commissioner-designate of Australia
- Munsoo Kurrimbaccus, High Commissioner-designate of Mauritius
- Ms Maja Mortensen, Ambassador-designate of Denmark
- Salem Mohammed Salem Al Bawab Al Zaabi, Ambassador-designate of the United Arab Emirates
Each diplomat was accorded a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
Key Highlights from One-on-One Engagements
- With Australian High Commissioner Tim Kane, President Zardari emphasized expanding trade, investment, agriculture, and education cooperation, noting the large Pakistani student community in Australia.
- With Mauritian High Commissioner Munsoo Kurrimbaccus, he highlighted long-standing friendship rooted in shared Commonwealth heritage and cultural affinity.
- With Danish Ambassador Maja Mortensen, the President appreciated close UN Security Council coordination and called for enhanced collaboration in trade, agriculture, dairy, technology, and infrastructure.
- With UAE Ambassador Salem Al Zaabi, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s historic solidarity—recalling Pakistan’s recognition of the UAE in 1971—and described the relationship as anchored in common faith, mutual trust, and shared aspirations for regional peace and prosperity.
President Zardari expressed confidence that the tenures of the new envoys would further elevate bilateral relations across political, economic, and people-to-people domains.
The ceremony underscored Pakistan’s active diplomatic outreach as it seeks deeper partnerships in trade, investment, technology, and regional stability.
