The nation of Pakistan observed Kashmir Solidarity Day today with a renewed pledge to support the Kashmiri people’s struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination. The day was marked by nationwide rallies, seminars, and a one-minute silence observed at 10:00 AM to honor the martyrs of the freedom movement.
Prime Minister Addresses AJK Legislative Assembly
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited Muzaffarabad to address a special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly. In a landmark move, the Premier announced a significant increase in the monthly per capita subsistence allowance for Kashmiri refugees, raising it to Rs. 6,000.
“The complete rehabilitation of the refugees of Jammu and Kashmir is a national duty,” PM Shehbaz stated, also detailing a Rs. 3 billion pilot project to construct 750 residential houses for refugees and a Rs. 9.4 billion allocation for water and energy projects in the Neelum Valley.
Military Leadership Cites ‘Marka-i-Haq’ Victory
Reflecting on recent regional history, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recalled the conflict of May 2025, referred to as Marka-i-Haq. He lauded the “courageous leadership” of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, stating that the victory reignited the Kashmir cause diplomatically and delivered a message to expansionist schemes.
In a joint statement issued via ISPR, the Services Chiefs—Field Marshal Asim Munir (CDF/COAS), Admiral Naveed Ashraf (CNS), and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu (CAS)—condemned the ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK. They reiterated that a just resolution according to UNSC resolutions remains essential for lasting peace in South Asia.
