The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has announced that the final celestial event of the year, the “Cold Supermoon,” will be visible across Pakistan during the nights of December 4th and 5th, offering skywatchers the last opportunity of 2025 to observe the phenomenon.
A supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with its closest approach to Earth, known as perigee, causing the Moon to appear both slightly larger and brighter than a regular full Moon.
December’s Cold Moon marks the third consecutive supermoon of the year, and Pakistan is set for peak viewing when the highly illuminated Moon rises at 4:58 PM PST on the evening of December 4th.

Although slightly less dramatic than November’s closest supermoon, the distance between Earth and the Moon on December 4th-5th will be 357,218 km, resulting in the Moon appearing approximately 7.9% larger and 15% brighter than an average full Moon.
