The discussions will focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, technology, education, culture, and people-to-people contacts. Both sides are expected to review progress on agreements reached in recent months, including:
- Establishment of a Joint Working Group on counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism, coastguard operations, border security, immigration, and police training
- Signing of MoUs on extradition, mutual legal assistance, and specialised battalion training
- Enhanced collaboration in anti-narcotics and immigration frameworks finalised during Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s September meeting with Bahraini counterpart General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa
The visit follows the inaugural meeting of the Pakistan-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group in October, which pledged to elevate ties across multiple domains.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said: “This visit signifies the longstanding cordial relations between Bahrain and Pakistan and will chart new avenues for result-oriented partnership, deepen people-to-people connections, and contribute to mutually beneficial cooperation.”
Bahrain hosts over 110,000 Pakistani expatriates and is home to significant Pakistani investments. Pakistan remains one of Bahrain’s key partners in defence training, with hundreds of Bahraini military officers trained at Pakistani institutions annually.
The visit underscores both nations’ commitment to translating historic fraternal ties into a modern, multifaceted strategic relationship.
