A horrific drone attack in the town of Kalogi, located in Sudan’s conflict-ridden South Kordofan region, is reported to have struck a kindergarten, killing at least 50 people, including 33 children, according to a medical organization and the army.
This devastating attack on Thursday, which the army-aligned foreign ministry claims involved multiple missile strikes that also targeted medics and civilians rushing to aid the wounded, has been blamed on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the paramilitary group engaged in a civil war with the Sudanese army since April 2023.

The scale of the tragedy prompted UNICEF to issue a strong condemnation, with a spokesman declaring that the killing of children in their school is a “horrific violation of children’s rights” and demanding that all parties immediately stop the attacks.
In a retaliatory claim, the RSF in turn accused the army of carrying out a drone strike that hit a market and a fuel depot near the Adre border crossing with Chad on Friday, alleging the army targeted a crucial delivery point for aid and commercial supplies.
