Iran Offers Pakistan “Blank Cheque” Support to Resolve Regional Challenges

Iran has offered Pakistan unconditional support in addressing challenges on its eastern and western borders, marking a rare and significant gesture of solidarity amid evolving regional dynamics.

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, described Pakistan as “dear and honourable” to the Iranian people and stated that Tehran was prepared to offer Islamabad a “blank cheque” to assist in resolving issues with India and Afghanistan, to be utilised whenever Pakistan deemed necessary. He made the remarks during an interview with a local media outlet before concluding his official visit to Pakistan.

Larijani, a close aide of Iran’s Supreme Leader, visited Islamabad amid heightened regional tensions, including developments in South Asia and the Middle East. During his visit, he held extensive meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership, including the President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing regional security cooperation and expanding economic and strategic engagement.

Relations between Pakistan and Iran have witnessed a marked improvement following the recent Iran-Israel conflict, during which Pakistan extended strong diplomatic support to Tehran. This support was widely acknowledged in Iran and contributed to a renewed atmosphere of goodwill between the two nations.

In a statement shared on his official social media account, Larijani revealed that Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian had issued directives to remove economic barriers between the two countries, following his recent visit to Pakistan. He further stated that Iran would lift remaining restrictions, emphasising that no limitations would be imposed on cooperation with Pakistan

During his meeting at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, Larijani and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir discussed regional security, counterterrorism cooperation and border management. The COAS reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability and stressed the importance of closer coordination between the two countries.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both sides underscored the need for continued dialogue, practical cooperation and institutional mechanisms to translate political commitments into tangible outcomes.

Larijani appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional stability and reiterated Iran’s determination to deepen strategic, political and economic ties with Islamabad.

Both nations agreed that sustained engagement and mutual cooperation remain vital for navigating regional challenges and ensuring long-term stability in the region.
