Operation Ghazab-lil-Haqq: Pakistan Declares “Open War” as Military Decimates Taliban Infrastructure

The long-standing border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have escalated into a full-scale military confrontation following the launch of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haqq (“Righteous Fury”) by the Pakistan Armed Forces. Triggered by a series of “unprovoked” Taliban artillery strikes on Thursday night, the operation has seen the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and ground troops strike deep into the heart of Afghanistan, including surgical hits in Kabul and Kandahar.

Strategic Devastation and Massive Taliban Losses

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and senior security sources have confirmed a staggering toll on the Taliban regime. In less than 48 hours of high-intensity combat:

  • Casualties: At least 133 Afghan Taliban combatants have been confirmed killed, with over 200 wounded. (Latest updates from the Ministry of Information suggest the death toll may now exceed 297 including allied militants).

  • Hardware Destruction: Over 80 heavy assets, including main battle tanks, artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers (APCs), have been obliterated by PAF precision strikes and ground fire.

  • Territorial Reclamations: Pakistani ground forces have successfully overrun and captured 27 Afghan border posts. In several sectors, the Pakistani flag has been hoisted over former Taliban strongholds following their strategic retreat.

  • Infrastructure Neutralization: PAF strikes destroyed two Brigade Headquarters in Kabul, a Corps Headquarters in Kandahar, and a massive ammunition hub in Nangarhar province.

Frontline Report: Sector-by-Sector Status

Sector Status Key Activity
Khyber (Torkham/Tirah) High Alert Heavy artillery duels at Maro Sar; the border remains sealed to all traffic.
Kurram (Kharlachi) Active Combat Ground units have cleared multiple Taliban hideouts; 53 attempted attacks repelled.
Chitral (Arandu) Posts Captured Pakistani forces seized the Barikot Base; several frontline Afghan posts were neutralized.
Mohmand & Bajaur Shelling Ongoing Cross-border mortar fire suppressed; several Taliban artillery batteries destroyed.

The Propaganda Conflict

The kinetic war is accompanied by a fierce information battle. While Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has circulated claims of capturing 15 Pakistani outposts and deploying “specialized laser units,” Islamabad has dismissed these as “Indian-sponsored fantasy.” Prime Minister’s spokesperson Mosharraf Zaidi emphasized that zero Pakistani territory has been lost, and the nation’s anti-drone systems have successfully intercepted multiple Taliban quadcopters over cities like Nowshera and Swabi.

The “Cup of Patience” Overflows

The declaration of “open war” marks the total breakdown of the October ceasefire. Defense Minister Khawaja Asif issued a decisive warning via X, stating, “Our cup of patience has overflowed. Now it is open war between us and you.” This sentiment was echoed by military leadership, which has demanded the Taliban make a “clear choice” between supporting terrorist proxies or maintaining regional peace.
