CM Maryam Nawaz Launches Phase III of Green Tractor Scheme

On February 22, 2026, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif formally inaugurated the third phase of the CM Green Tractor Program during a high-profile ceremony in Lahore. This latest expansion adds 10,000 new tractors to the province’s agricultural fleet, specifically targeting small and medium-scale farmers. The Chief Minister emphasized that the initiative is a cornerstone of her “Kisan Dost” (Farmer Friendly) agenda, aimed at modernizing Punjab’s farming infrastructure to ensure food security and export growth.

The program has seen rapid success since its inception, with 21,000 tractors already delivered during the first two phases. In this third installment, the government is providing machinery ranging from 50 to 65 horsepower, which is ideal for the diverse soil types across the province. To ensure transparency, the selection of beneficiaries is conducted through a digital balloting system, with the provincial government providing a significant Rs1 million subsidy per tractor to lower the financial burden on local growers.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also hinted at future expansions, including the provision of solar-powered tube wells and high-tech harvesters in the coming months. She reiterated that her administration’s goal is to transform Punjab into a “global breadbasket” through technology-driven interventions.
