Islamabad Demands Afghan Administration Prevent Use of Its Soil for Attacks Against Pakistan
The Government of Pakistan today issued a firm statement reaffirming its non-negotiable commitment to national security and the protection of its citizens, following a surge in cross-border terrorist activities originating from Afghan territory. This declaration comes after an intense period of security incidents, including the tragic killing of eleven more Pakistani soldiers in clashes with militant elements in the Tirah area on Friday.
Pakistan continues to bear the brunt of attacks orchestrated by internationally proscribed terrorist groups, most notably the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which operates from what Islamabad maintains are un-governed spaces across the border in Afghanistan.
Pakistan conducted multiple overnight airstrikes across multiple locations in Afghanistan, including:
— Kabul
— Paktika
— Khost
— Jalalabad— TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsood has reportedly been killed in these strikes, including dozens of other TTP leaders.#Pakistan’s… https://t.co/4IAPe1uf6r

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the official military spokesman, underscored the unwavering resolve of the Armed Forces.
“To protect the lives of the people of Pakistan, we are doing, and will continue to do, whatever is necessary,” General Chaudhry stated during a press conference. “Our demand to Afghanistan is clear: Your soil must not be used for terrorism against Pakistan.”
The Root Cause: External Sanctuaries
The recent escalation in security measures is a direct response to the persistent threat posed by militants who exploit the Afghan border region to plan and execute acts of violence within Pakistan. Islamabad has repeatedly shared evidence and sought concerted action from the Afghan administration to dismantle these terrorist sanctuaries.
The statement noted reports concerning security operations in the region, without confirming or denying specific actions, but emphasized that any necessary measures taken are purely defensive and aimed at eliminating imminent threats to Pakistani sovereignty and life.

Focus on Stability and Mutual Respect
The Government of Pakistan reiterates its desire for peace, stability, and good neighbourly relations with Afghanistan, based on the principle of mutual respect and non-interference. A key component of this relationship, however, must be the strict adherence to the commitment that Afghan territory will not be used to launch terrorist attacks against any other country, especially Pakistan.
Pakistan will continue to monitor the security situation closely and reserves the right to take decisive action in accordance with international law to ensure the safety and security of its populace.
