Pakistan Invited to Join Trump’s Gaza “Board of Peace”

The Foreign Office confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been invited by U.S. President Donald Trump to join the newly formed Board of Peace for Gaza. This body is a central pillar of “Phase Two” of Trump’s 20-Point Comprehensive Plan, which aims to oversee the reconstruction and transitional governance of the Palestinian territory. The Board, chaired by Trump himself, is being positioned as a powerful international organization that some critics suggest could eventually rival the United Nations.

The board features a high-profile executive panel, including U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British PM Tony Blair, and Jared Kushner. To join, Trump has invited leaders from roughly 60 nations, including Turkey, Egypt, Canada, and Saudi Arabia. Notably, a draft charter revealed that countries seeking a “permanent” seat are encouraged to contribute $1 billion toward Gaza’s reconstruction, while non-paying members are limited to three-year terms. The White House, however, has clarified that there is no “minimum fee” to join the broader effort.

On the ground, a 15-member National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), led by Dr. Ali Shaath, held its inaugural meeting in Cairo this week. This technocratic body will manage daily civil affairs and “humanitarian files” while an International Stabilization Force (ISF), commanded by U.S. Major General Jasper Jeffers, handles security and demilitarization. While the plan promises a “New Gaza” with high-tech cities, it remains controversial as it bypasses traditional UN channels and places unilateral approval power for all major decisions in the hands of the American president.
