Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has strongly urged the European Union to suspend its 1995 Association Agreement with Israel in response to a fresh wave of Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Sánchez described the latest Israeli attacks as “the harshest” since the offensive began. He criticised Tel Aviv for showing “intolerable” disregard for human life and international law.
“The European Union must suspend its Association Agreement with Israel,” Sánchez stated, calling for immediate action.
He also demanded that Lebanon be included in the recent ceasefire reached between the US and Iran, and urged the international community to condemn what he called a “new violation of international law.” Sánchez added that “there must be no impunity for these criminal acts.”

Lebanon’s Health Minister reported that at least 89 people were killed and 722 others injured in the latest Israeli strikes, with the figures described as preliminary.
The Spanish Prime Minister’s remarks come amid growing international criticism of Israel’s military actions in both Gaza and Lebanon, and reflect increasing calls within parts of Europe for stronger measures against Israel over its conduct in the ongoing conflicts.
