Sharif stressed the importance of transparency in subsidy programs for electric motorcycles, particularly those aimed at low-income individuals. He urged for swift implementation of these initiatives under the National EV Policy.
Officials briefed the Prime Minister on progress, noting that 72 manufacturing certificates have been issued for electric motorcycles and rickshaws, with an additional four for electric cars. Interest in EV infrastructure is strong, with 123 applications received for establishing EV charging stations across the country.
The ambitious goal is to have 30% of vehicles running on electricity within the next five years. This transition is projected to save the country approximately $4.5 billion in fuel expenses.
To encourage adoption, the government plans to offer electric bikes to government employees up to grade sixteen on easy installment plans.
