United Nations human rights experts have warned that continued Israeli military violations are endangering the fragile ceasefire in Gaza, calling on States to take urgent action to protect civilians and ensure unrestricted humanitarian access.

According to the experts, since the ceasefire came into effect on 11 October, Israel has reportedly committed at least 393 violations, resulting in the deaths of 339 Palestinians, including more than 70 children, and injuring over 871 others. The most severe incident occurred on 28 October, described as the deadliest night since the ceasefire began, when at least 104 Palestinians were killed in airstrikes.
Despite the truce, attacks involving gunfire, artillery and airstrikes have reportedly continued across all five governorates of Gaza. Humanitarian access remains critically limited, with only two of six border crossings open and aid deliveries consistently falling below the agreed target of 600 trucks per day.

The experts expressed alarm over the deteriorating healthcare system, noting that Gaza’s major hospitals are only partially functional and lack essential supplies and equipment. They stressed that UN agencies, including UNRWA and OCHA, must be allowed to directly manage humanitarian aid, as mandated by international law.
The situation in the occupied West Bank was also highlighted, with escalating violence by Israeli settlers and security forces, alongside legislative moves seen as advancing illegal annexation.
While welcoming the ceasefire, the experts warned that the absence of accountability and justice undermines any prospect of lasting peace. They reiterated that peace initiatives that maintain militarised control over Gaza risk entrenching occupation rather than resolving it.
UN experts called on the international community to take decisive measures, including:
- Ensuring safe and unhindered humanitarian corridors
- Imposing sanctions and a comprehensive arms embargo
- Allowing full international media access
- Supporting independent investigations into alleged violations
- Considering UN-led intervention if violations continue
The experts emphasised that only firm international action can prevent further suffering and restore peace and stability in the occupied Palestinian territories.
