Aimee Lou Wood Finds Her Voice on Set with Angelina Jolie in Netflix’s Anxious People

Nov 6, 2025 | Latest News, Entertainment

In a raw and revealing cover story with Harper’s Bazaar, BAFTA-winner Aimee Lou Wood has opened up about the moment she finally spoke up for herself on a film set—and discovered Angelina Jolie cheering her on from the sidelines.

The 31-year-old White Lotus breakout star is currently filming Netflix’s highly anticipated adaptation of Fredrik Backman’s global bestseller Anxious People opposite Oscar-winner Jolie, Jason Segel, Carol Kane, and Stephanie Allynne.

During an emotional scene, Wood found herself overwhelmed as crew members shouted directions. Instead of staying silent, she did something she’d spent years fearing: she asked for what she needed.

“I’ve spent years feeling unable to say anything like that for fear of seeming argumentative,” Wood told Harper’s Bazaar. “But now I can take ownership of what I need to thrive—and tell people what won’t work for me.”

What happened next left her speechless.

“When I spoke up, all I could see was Angelina giving me a thumbs-up,” Wood revealed, smiling. “She’s possibly the most famous woman ever, but she’s so normal. I’m fairly certain she drives herself to set each day.”

Jolie’s quiet support became Wood’s superpower, turning a daunting moment into a turning point.

Anxious People, a bittersweet comedy about eight strangers brought together during a failed bank robbery, marks the first time the two actresses share the screen. Directed by Felix Herngren, the series is set to premiere globally on Netflix in 2026.

From terrified newcomer to confident leading lady, Aimee Lou Wood just proved that sometimes the loudest applause comes from the biggest icon in the room.
