According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dar briefed Wong on the recent Islamabad Talks held on April 11–12 and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to encouraging continued dialogue and constructive engagement between the two sides.
Both leaders expressed concern over the broader implications of the conflict for the global economy, particularly for developing countries, and emphasised the importance of peaceful conflict resolution.
The call highlights growing international recognition of Pakistan’s mediation efforts in the US-Iran crisis. Over the past week, senior officials from multiple countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, the US, China, Turkey, and others, have publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s role as a facilitator.
Islamabad is currently preparing to host a second round of US-Iran talks, with reports indicating that a high-level American delegation led by Vice President JD Vance is expected to arrive in Pakistan soon.
Pakistan has positioned itself as an “honest broker,” maintaining open channels with both Washington and Tehran despite the challenges in reaching a breakthrough.
