The Breathe Pakistan International Climate Change Conference, organized by DawnMedia, commenced its second edition, uniting influential figures to address Pakistan’s escalating climate concerns and strategies for building resilience.
The conference gathered policymakers, climate scientists, financial institutions, development organizations, and business leaders to engage in critical discussions.
Over six sessions, speakers explored vital topics including adapting to climate change, reducing disaster risks, securing climate finance, managing water resources, ensuring agricultural and food security, and enacting effective climate legislation. A central theme was the pressing need for stronger implementation of existing policies, better coordination among policymakers, increased investment in adaptation measures, sustainable water management practices, climate-resilient agriculture, and rigorous enforcement of environmental regulations.
Notable speakers included Dawn CEO Nazafreen Saigol Lakhani, Climate Change Minister Musadik Malik, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Sherry Rehman, and Water Resources Minister Mian Muhammad Mueen Wattoo. Representatives from global organizations such as the World Bank, United Nations, Asian Development Bank, AIIB, Green Climate Fund, WFP, and FAO, along with leaders from Pakistan’s banking, agriculture, and development sectors, also contributed to the dialogue. The conference underscored a collective commitment to tackling Pakistan’s climate challenges through collaborative action and innovative solutions.
