Missile Strike Targets Key Industrial Facility
Iran has intensified its military response by striking a major Israeli chemical complex in the Negev desert. A ballistic missile hit the ICL Group facility in the Rotem Industrial Zone near Dimona, causing a large explosion and fire.
An Iranian missile hits the Israeli town of Dimona, home to a nuclear facility, in what the Islamic republic says is retaliation for strikes on its own nuclear site at Natanz. The UN nuclear watchdog chief urges ‘military restraint to avoid any risk of a nuclear accident’.

The site is part of Israel’s largest chemical company and is involved in phosphate extraction and industrial production. Early reports suggest structural damage, though full details are still emerging. The strike highlights a shift toward targeting strategic industrial infrastructure rather than only military bases.
Controversy Over White Phosphorus Links
The targeted facility has drawn attention due to claims it supplies materials linked to white phosphorus production. According to reports, ICL Group exports phosphates used in various industries, including facilities connected to the United States military.
White phosphorus has been widely debated due to its use in conflict zones like the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, where it has raised humanitarian concerns. The strike adds a new layer of tension, as it connects battlefield actions with controversial weapons supply chains.
Wider Escalation Across the Region
The attack is part of a broader escalation by Iran, which has launched multiple missile and drone strikes in recent days. Targets have included areas near the Orot Rabin power plant and the northern city of Safad.
At the same time, Iran has expanded its operations beyond Israel, hitting United States bases in countries like Bahrain and Iraq. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on shipping routes have further increased global tensions. As the conflict spreads, fears of a wider regional war continue to grow.
