Rawalpindi — In a major act of solidarity with citizens devastated by unprecedented floods, the Pakistan Army has announced a significant financial and humanitarian contribution to relief efforts. All soldiers and officers will donate their one-day salary, while general officers will contribute one month’s salary to support victims of the disaster. Alongside this monetary donation, the Army has mobilized the delivery of rations, tents, and other essential supplies to thousands of displaced families.

Institutional Commitment to National Resilience
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), this gesture reflects the Army’s unwavering commitment to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the people in their hour of need. Contributions from across all ranks, including the highest levels of command, demonstrate the depth of institutional responsibility and compassion at a time when lives and livelihoods have been swept away by the floods.
Truck convoys carrying ration bags, tents, blankets, and medical supplies have already been dispatched to the hardest-hit districts of Swat, Shangla, and Buner, where relief needs remain acute.
Ongoing Rescue and Relief Efforts
Parallel to financial contributions, the Army has deployed Corps of Engineers, aviation units, and medical teams to conduct evacuation and rescue missions. Soldiers are clearing blocked roads, restoring access to remote villages, and delivering emergency rations and medicines by helicopter to isolated communities.
The Pakistan Air Force has joined the relief effort, establishing an air bridge to transport tons of aid supplies from Karachi to Peshawar, ensuring timely distribution in affected areas.
Humanitarian Crisis Worsens
The floods—triggered by severe monsoon rains and a devastating cloudburst in KP—have left a tragic toll. The death count has surpassed 300 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone, with entire families displaced and infrastructure severely damaged. Nationwide, nearly 660 deaths have been reported since the monsoon season began in late June. Relief agencies warn of worsening conditions with forecasts of continued heavy rainfall.
Complementing National Response
The Army’s contribution complements government initiatives, including the formation of a four-member inquiry task force tasked with identifying lapses in flood preparedness and recommending structural safeguards to prevent future disasters.
This dual approach—direct relief through financial and supply donations, alongside sustained on-ground rescue operations—reaffirms the Army’s role as a central pillar of national resilience. For flood-hit communities, these efforts represent not only immediate support but also a message of shared sacrifice and hope for recovery.
