On February 17, 2026, Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), announced a significant increase in stipends across multiple welfare schemes. Designed as a “Ramzan gift” to help low-income households manage rising inflation, the new rates will benefit approximately 10 million families nationwide. The quarterly Benazir Kafalat stipend has been raised from Rs 13,500 to Rs 14,500, with the enhanced payments scheduled for disbursement during the holy month of Ramzan.

The increase extends to other essential social safety nets as well. Both the Benazir Education Stipends and the Benazir Nashonuma program, which provides nutritional support for mothers and infants, will see an additional Rs 500 increase. Senator Khalid emphasized that these adjustments are part of a broader effort to ensure financial aid keeps pace with ground realities. To improve transparency, BISP has also launched a digital payment system allowing beneficiaries to receive funds directly into mobile wallets, eliminating the need for long queues at campsites.
