Escalating Violence Amidst a Fragile Truce
According to the Gaza Government Media Office, the ceasefire initiated on October 10, 2025, has been breached approximately 1,000 times. Reports from Palestinian health officials indicate that since the truce began, 500 Palestinians have been killed and over 1,400 wounded.
The foreign ministry of Pakistan emphasized that the latest strike on January 31, which killed 32 people, serves to “undermine peace efforts” at a critical juncture for Middle Eastern diplomacy.
Threat to the Political Process
The joint statement from the eight-nation coalition warned that these violations risk derailing the second phase of the peace framework currently being advanced by the White House.
“These actions risk escalating tensions and undermining efforts aimed at consolidating calm,” the statement read. The ministers further asserted that the breaches constitute a “direct threat” to the political transition outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which was adopted on November 17 to endorse the current peace roadmap.
The Trump Peace Plan, and Transitional Governance
The peace plan, unveiled by President Donald Trump in October 2025, establishes a framework for:
- Technocratic Administration: A Palestinian-led administrative body to manage Gaza.
- International Oversight: A transitional period governed by an international board to ensure security and aid distribution.
- Reconstruction: Moving toward early recovery and the rebuilding of Gaza’s infrastructure.
The foreign ministers stressed that “full commitment” to this framework is the only viable path to a stable security and humanitarian environment in the Gaza Strip.
Call for Restraint, and Statehood
The coalition urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that jeopardize the peace process. Simultaneously, the ministers reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Palestinian right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state in accordance with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The statement concluded with a call for the international community to ensure the success of the second phase of the peace plan, particularly as Israel announced the “limited” reopening of the Rafah crossing—a move many hope will facilitate humanitarian relief rather than further military friction.
