Pakistan Post has officially resumed booking for international outbound mail to 188 destinations, effective immediately. The service had been suspended following the outbreak of the Middle East war, which caused widespread regional flight cancellations and airspace closures. To ensure the smooth transportation of mail, the department has finalized transit arrangements with seven major international hubs, including Dubai, Istanbul, and Beijing. While most global routes are back online, services to 19 specific destinations—including Iran, India, and several Middle Eastern countries—remain suspended.

Quick Facts
- International outbound mail services have resumed for 188 countries.
- The suspension was triggered by regional conflict following the February 28 “pre-emptive” strikes in the Middle East.
- Seven international transit hubs are being utilized: Baku, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, Amsterdam, Sydney, and Beijing.
- Direct flight connectivity via Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is available for select destinations.
- Booking remains suspended for 19 countries, including Iran, India, Afghanistan, and Palestine.
According to a circular issued by Additional Director General Maqsood Ahmed, the department has leveraged partnerships with global postal carriers such as Azerpost, Emirates Post, and Turkish Post to bypass regional disruptions. These hubs will serve as primary transit points for Pakistan-origin mail, ensuring that letters and parcels reach their final destinations despite the ongoing instability in the Middle East.
While the majority of international services are operational, 19 destinations remain inaccessible due to localized conflict or severe logistical bottlenecks. The excluded countries include Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, India, Kuwait, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen. Pakistan Post officials stated that services to these specific regions will be restored gradually as regional safety conditions and flight schedules improve.
The resumption marks a significant recovery for Pakistan’s postal operations, which had been paralyzed since late February. The restoration of air links, particularly through direct PIA flights and strategic transit agreements, is expected to clear the backlog of international mail and restore vital communication links for businesses and families.
